SaaS SEO agency pricing compared

Fourteen agencies, side by side. Only one figure here is a published rate, which is the finding as much as the data. Plus what each price band physically buys, and the calculation that tells you what you can actually afford.

How to read this table

Only one figure on this page is a published rate: ours. Every other number is a market-tier estimate assembled from category benchmarks, public statements and buyer reports, and marked with a tilde. Treat them as a guide to the tier an agency operates in, not as a quote. We publish this because the pricing question is the one buyers most consistently cannot get answered, and because we are the only agency here with nothing to lose by answering it.

Short answer

What do SaaS SEO agencies actually charge?

Starter programs run $3,000 to $5,000 per month. Growth programs run $5,000 to $10,000. Enterprise scope runs $10,000 to $25,000 or more. Consulting is $3,000 to $7,000 monthly or $100 to $300 hourly. One-off audits are $4,000 to $8,000.

Of the fourteen agencies compared below, one publishes its rates. Cost per click on agency keywords reaches $368, which explains the incentive to price every client individually rather than post a number.

Estimates reflect category benchmarks and public statements as of July 2026. Ask every agency directly, and compare itemized deliverables rather than headline monthly totals, because two $8,000 retainers can differ threefold in real delivery.

Why the same service costs $5,000 or $25,000

It is almost never the same service. Five variables account for nearly all of the spread, and knowing them lets you compare proposals that look incomparable.

  • Content velocity. Four pages a month and twenty pages a month are different businesses to run. This is usually the single largest line item.
  • Technical implementation. Whether the agency specifies fixes and hands them to your engineers, or ships them itself. The difference is often $3,000 to $6,000 a month.
  • Link volume and method. Earned placements on genuinely authoritative publications cost $200 to $800 each. Ten a month is a different proposal from three.
  • AI-search measurement. Still in scope for a minority of agencies. If it is included, it is real work: prompt sets, seven engines, competitor benchmarking, on a schedule.
  • Who works on your account. The largest hidden variable. A senior operator running your campaign and a junior executing a template cost the agency very different amounts, and the proposal rarely says which you get.
The question that exposes all five

Ask any agency to itemize: pages per month, who writes them, links per month, who implements technical changes, and whether AI-search work is included. Agencies confident in their scope answer immediately. Agencies selling a headline number get vague, and the vagueness is the answer.

The real test

Whether a price is right for you

Benchmarks tell you what the market charges. This calculation tells you what you can afford, which is the number that matters.

The break-even calculation

Take your average contract value. Multiply by your organic trial-to-paid rate to get the revenue value of one qualified trial. Divide the monthly retainer by that figure. The result is how many trials a month the program must produce to break even in year one.

$12,000 ACV, 12% conversion

Each trial is worth $1,440. A $10,000 retainer needs about 7 trials a month to break even.

$24,000 ACV, 10% conversion

Each trial is worth $2,400. A $15,000 retainer needs about 6 trials a month.

$60,000 ACV, 8% conversion

Each trial is worth $4,800. A $20,000 retainer needs about 4 trials a month.

$3,000 ACV, 15% conversion

Each trial is worth $450. A $5,000 retainer needs 11 trials a month, which is demanding.
Higher contract values make expensive retainers easier to justify, not harder

What each price band actually buys

Honest description of what is physically possible at each level after an agency covers its overhead.

Under $3,000 a month

Roughly 10 to 15 hours of qualified time. That buys two to four blog posts. No technical remediation, no earned links, no senior strategist thinking about your funnel. This is the band where most companies conclude SEO does not work, when what failed was the budget shape.

$3,000 to $5,000

A starter program: keyword strategy, a technical audit, limited content volume. Or, better value at this level, a consulting engagement where you get senior direction and your team executes.

$5,000 to $10,000

A real program becomes possible. Technical fixes, four to six pages a month, early authority work, and reporting wired to your CRM. The most common band in the market.

$10,000 to $25,000

Full service: content velocity, meaningful link volume, digital PR, AI-search measurement and conversion work running together, with a senior operator on the account.

Above $25,000

Multi-product or multi-market programs, or integrated paid and organic. At this level you should be asking hard questions about how much of the fee is delivery and how much is agency overhead.

We publish because hiding the number only helps the seller. A price that appears after two discovery calls is a price that moved based on what you revealed. Ours is on the site, it is the same for everyone, and we decline work below it rather than discounting.

FAQ

Pricing questions

The questions buyers cannot usually get answered.

Get a real number
How much do SaaS SEO agencies charge in 2026?
Starter programs run $3,000 to $5,000 per month, growth programs $5,000 to $10,000, and enterprise scope $10,000 to $25,000 or more. Consulting is $3,000 to $7,000 per month or $100 to $300 per hour. One-off audits run $4,000 to $8,000. Across the fourteen agencies we compared, only one publishes its rates.
Why do so few SEO agencies publish their pricing?
Because cost per click on agency keywords reaches $368, which tells you how much a single client is worth and creates a strong incentive to price each one individually. A number that appears only after two discovery calls can vary with what you reveal about your budget. That is not necessarily dishonest, but it is worth knowing it is happening.
What is a fair price for SaaS SEO?
Fair depends on scope rather than a benchmark. The right test is whether the fee produces enough qualified trials to beat your paid CAC within twelve months. On a $12,000 ACV product with a 12% trial-to-paid rate, a $10,000 monthly retainer needs roughly seven qualified trials a month to break even in year one. Whether that is easy or impossible depends entirely on your category.
Why is one agency $5,000 and another $25,000 for the same service?
Because it is rarely the same service. The variables are content velocity, whether technical implementation is included or handed to your engineers, link volume, whether AI-search work is in scope, and how senior the person on your account is. Two $8,000 retainers can differ by a factor of three in real delivery, which is why comparing headline numbers is misleading.
Should I choose the cheapest SaaS SEO agency?
Below roughly $3,000 a month the arithmetic stops working: after overhead there is not enough qualified time for technical work, links and senior strategy, so you get publishing volume. Above that floor, price correlates loosely with scope and barely at all with quality. Compare itemized deliverables rather than monthly totals.
Do SaaS SEO agencies negotiate on price?
Agencies that do not publish pricing almost always negotiate, because the number was never fixed. Agencies that publish a floor generally do not, because the published number is the number. Both models exist. The practical implication is that if pricing is hidden, you should ask what the same scope would cost a company half your size.
What should be included in a SaaS SEO retainer?
Ask specifically about: pages per month and who writes them, whether technical implementation is included or specified only, links per month and how they are earned, whether AI-search measurement is in scope, whether conversion work on the pages is included, and all tooling. Ambiguity in any of these is where retainers quietly become content subscriptions.
